Anne of France
(1461-1522)
   duchess of Bourbon, regent
   Born in Genappe, Brabant, Anne of France was known as the "dame de Beaujeu." The daughter of louis xi and Charlotte of Savoy, she married Pierre II of Beaujeu (1438-1503), duke of Bourbon (1448). Regent during the minority of her brother Charles VIII, she ruled with competence, convoking the Estates General (1484) and fighting against the "Grands." During the Guerre folle, his troops fought the duke of Orléans (future louis xii) and Francois II, duke of Brittany, at Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier in 1488. She arranged the marriage of Charles VIII with Anne of Brittany (1491).
